Highly inspired by the urban world and what brings it to life (namely street art, graffiti, advertising billboards, human intervention), Romain Thoreau places the city at the heart of his art. Since moving to Paris in 2010, aged 23, he has wanted to reinterpret the city in his own way. Surprising sidestreets, characteristic rooftops, café scenes, and more… In love with Paris since discovering it, he paints portraits that are evocative of the city. Much like other talents such as Sylvain Chomet, Enki Bilal or Nicolas de Crecy, from whom he seeps inspirations, Romain Thoreau paints a beautiful portrait of the city, while still granting it the darkness that he finds so attractive.
Collage, drawings, aged media… Through his pieces that resemble a wall that has been marked by the passage of time, the artist pays a beautiful tribute to the city he is so fond of.
